Art: Map it out
Our art topic this half term is called Map it Out. Class 1 have been working hard with Mrs Wardale. Reception created their own 3d map as a group. Year 2 made their own piece of felt and used part of their map in their designs. A fantastic afternoon of fun and learning!
Diwali
We have been finding out all about how Diwali is celebrated, and why light is important. We created our own diva lamps to guide Rama and Sita home!
Odd socks day
We all came to school wearing odd socks to raise awareness of Anti-bullying week.
we loved dancing to Andy and the Odd Socks song about choosing respect!
Autumn fun
We had an afternoon inspired by everything Autumn! We listened to the Leaf Man story and created our own characters. We painted Autumn trees and made leaf rubbings. Reception used conkers to count and match numbers. Year 2 wrote some amazing descriptions of seasonal changes.
Our Toy Museum
We have been creating descriptions of toys from the past. We wrote labels for each toy so visitors to our toy museum can find out about how children played with toys beyond our living memory.
Non-fiction: Toys in the past
Our new English text is an information book. We have been learning about features including contents, index and glossary. We are going to write descriptions of old toys for our Toy Museum in the classroom. Everyone had lots of fun playing with the toys!
Subitising 3 and 4
Reception have been looking at the different ways 3 and 4 can be made. The Numberblocks help us to remember! Today they made their own subitising cards with spots and stickers!
Writing poetry
Year 2 have been thinking about what makes them unique to create Who am I? poems. We celebrated what makes us special and some of the children are now using handwriting pens for writing too!
Investigating woodland habitats
Today we researched woodland habitats and the animals that might live there using the iPads.We found out about diet, predators and shelters to create fact cards for a fox, barn owl and a dormouse.

Phonics in Reception
Each week our Reception group are learning four initial sounds! They have been learning how to form each letter and have begun to think about the sounds they can hear in words. They have all made an amazing start!
Design Technology
This term Class 1 are investigating structures. They are going to design a new chair for Baby Bear after it was broken by Goldilocks. This week they looked at the strength and shape of paper.
The Tiger Who Came To Tea
Year 2 have been writing their own versions of The Tiger Who Came To Tea. Today was our proof reading and editing session - a very important part of the writing process - and one we always wear our “inspectacles” for!
