Our visit to Rosliston Forestry Centre
We had an amazing day full of learning at Rosliston! We were nature detectives and went to a variety of different habitats around the centre looking for minibeasts! We used nets, brushes and magnifiers to spot them and record our findings. We used our senses in the herb garden and made hedgehog…
My history
We have been trying to answer the question, how am I making history? We played “Guess Who” with our baby photographs and talked about how much we have changed. Then we made our own personal timelines. Many thanks to all our families for sharing their precious photographs!
Advice for Pinocchio
Year 1 have been busy offering advice to Pinocchio! He wants to be a real boy but on his first day of school he was distracted and went to a puppet show instead! We wanted to help him make good choices!

Invitations to play
We have lots of activities set up in Maple class to provide independent learning opportunities. We aim to spark curiosity, imagination, autonomy and teamwork. Here are some examples of some recent invitations to play.
Parachute!
We displayed some fantastic teamwork playing a variety of games with the parachute. Our favourite was when we had to go underneath and swap places with a partner!
Investigating absorbency and water play
We have continued our work in everyday materials in Science and tested a range of materials for absorbency. Some great observations and discussions! Then we went outside for some hands-on water play. Fantastic collaborative learning in action!
Planting seeds
We have been busy this week planting seeds in our outdoor area. It was a fantastic opportunity to talk about how plants and flowers grow and what we need to do to look after them!
Spring has arrived!
With the arrival of Spring we have taken the opportunity to be learning outside. There are so many skills we can develop outside the classroom so we look forward to the warmer weather!
Making biscuits
Pig the Pug watched us completed our final task for “Travelling Tales.” We decorated some special Pug biscuits ready for Ralph’s visit later this week!
DT Paper sculptures
